CERVO Brain Research Center - An Interdisciplinary Institute
The CERVO hosts the Neurophotonics Center and is affiliated with Laval University and constitutes an innovative teaching and training environment in leading fields of research such as Neurosciences, Photonics and Genetics. Its mission is to further the knowledge of the causes and treatments of neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases as well as to improve our understanding of the brain and behavior. The CERVO is known for its expertise on schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, major depression, autism, Gilles de la Tourette disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s chorea, epilepsy, chronic pain, pathological gambling, alcoholism and sleep disorders associated with aging. The use of Neurophotonics technologies to extend the reach of our research is a major area of efforts at the CERVO center.

If you are interested in joining the group, we are always interested in hard working motivated people who want to apply their knowledge of science (for example: physics, engineering, computer sciences, etc…) and their skills to create and use novel photonics tools for leading edge applications in neuroscience. My grades? Why do we care about grades?
You are a physicist, a computer scientist or an engineer but you will focus your efforts on making a difference in neuroscience. Having an excellent grasp of concepts in physics, engineering, electronics, or chemistry is essential to be a valuable and productive member of the group. This understanding is reflected in your grades, yet grades are not everything: skills in the laboratory are rarely well expressed in a transcript. If you think you are the person for neuroscience research, please send your candidature.
Québec City - UNESCO World Heritage's City
The very name Québec conjures up images of easy living, historical riches, world heritage treasures, and incomparable tourist appeal. Québec City is centered in an area where the river narrows before opening into an estuary. The city’s rocky high point, Cape Diamond, towers 103 meters above the river, adding to the unique flavor of the area. The plain is fed by a number of smaller rivers, including the Saint-Charles, which lazily winds its way down toward the St. Lawrence. The old city is divided into two parts, Upper and Lower Town. Québec City’s vibrant cultural scene provides a rich selection of offerings year-round. Film, theater, music, art, literature, and a rich historical heritage inspire everything from colorful neighborhood celebrations to major crowd-pleasers such as the Québec Winter Carnival and the Québec City Summer Festival.
